Change

I just got a whole bunch of POVs recently, and before I knew it... I've realised I... changed.

These changes are so great and abrupt, at least to me, that I got real shock, and as usual, I'm starting feel like I'm a shadow of myself...

I remember about the fuss I made a week ago, about my birthday. Now, last Thursday, I went for my ex-section mate's birthday, and the quote "do unto others as you would have them do unto you" hits me right in the head...

Being the only one and only person (my section mate's all dunno go where) there, the things I did was just... talking with his dad about army life, and my friend about my life and his life, and a bit of mingling with his friends.

The last twenty years, I've been trying to live my life as it is, free. It's like walking in a lush green field, without any shackles, without any worries.

Now I feel like I'm walking on a tightrope with dumbbells around my feet, and any wrong movement will result in a freefall down to oblivion.

Is it because of what I did in the past that causes me to be what I am today?

I got a visit

Surprise surprise, I got a visit from my fellow unit-mate. Not that I know him much, but still, an army in house visit nonetheless...

He came.... to collect my donation card.

And all the way, from just having woken up, I acted like I was in a lot of pain, yah, unconvincing lot of pain. Limping, wincing, you name it, I've got it.

Just why am I putting up such a fake mask right now? To convince my mates I'm having a bad life with this cursed leg and get more apathy?

On another note, Oh please let my MC be extended.....

Interesting things happening on my birthday

Wow..... a few things happened yesterday....

1) Xiaxue's webbie got hacked

Surprise surprise.... her blogsite got hacked... Maybe I should start backing up my site too?

2) my warrant officer, saying I'll have to go overtime when I get back

More confirmation that I've become his personal clerk... he actually called me to tell me that loads of work is coming soon... and that I may have to work overtime... duhz.

3) Peter just went into hospital

Peter's having his operation today... I think I'll get him some fruits and a book to read... I know it's real bored to be in hospital for at least half a day...

4) I've got two calls at home from camp to see whether I'm still alive

Wow... I just became a VIP and both of them don't know it's my birthday... haha...

Oh what an interesting day it was...

So far I've got two birthday greetings.... One's from a week ago, my Judo Assistant Coach, Francis (He found it out on Friendster ), and yesterday, Peter...

But still... quite an eventful day yesterday, compared to other days... yawn....

The Birthday Dinner Three Days Ago

This seems a little late, but.... since it's my birthday today ( *cough cough * attention seeker complex here *cough cough* ), might as well write about my dinner three days ago... It's the first time in 21 years that my mum got crazy and cooked such a special birthday dinner... haha... of course I helped a bit la...

It's a long list, and I can't help but describe the dishes made, so it might not be interesting...

Starting with...

tasteless chicken Posted by Picasa

kidneys and two xtra drumsticks Posted by Picasa

Chicken!

The chicken and the kidneys were entirely boiled in water make the chicken... tasteless... Besides creating chicken stock, we had to make it tasteless for...

oh the sauce for chicken Posted by Picasa

The sauce! Mum had me dice an entire clove of garlic just to make this sauce. The garlic is stir fried til golden in oil, and mixed together with oyster sauce and soy sauce, to create the smooth, and fragrant flavour. My mum went a little overboard though with sauces, and used the garlics with sweet plum sauce! Not bad though...

The chicken stock was used for the soup, and something else...

chicken rice!!! Posted by Picasa

Yes!!! The surprise of the day! Thought it would be just white rice, but! it's chicken rice! Irresistable!

yong tau foo and beancurd skin rolls Posted by Picasa

Now this is the power dish made by my mum and me... The beancurd (the hard one, not the silken one) was fried to get it's crispy exterior, and the meat was marinated in the morning with sesame oil, carrots, spring onions. We had wanted to get some water chestnuts too, but heck, it was forgotten, so it's just too bad! Then the whole thing was stewed in chicken stock and oyster sauce, to make that crispy, yet juicy dish!

The beancurd skin used to make the meat rolls were surprisingly salty: the smell lingered on my hands for a while, and Mum had to wipe the thing twice to make it less salty... The beancurd skin rolls were not done for quite a while, so Mum got too enthusiastic and made a lot...

stir fried sprouts Posted by Picasa

The sprouts seemed to be the most expensive of the lot to my mum: she kept saying how she would never buy so little veg for so much... haha...

steamed garoupa Posted by Picasa

Ah yes... steamed garoupa... the same sauce used for the chicken was also used here... Dad kept saying about how much these dishes would cost in a restaurant, and this dish alone, he said would cost 80-90 bucks... !!! Serious boh....

popping champagne Posted by Picasa

And champagne! I'm not a real good drinker, and I don't have a preference towards alcohol...

serving it out Posted by Picasa

Dad insisted on me popping the champagne, and I got it splashing all over the fish... in case you didn't notice the wet liquids on the table... Mum was babbling about how the champagne ruined the garoupa, and Dad was going on how alcohol goes well with seafood...

I would say that the top of the fish was great, but the bottom has the taste of the bitter alcohol and saltiness of the sauce... hah...

champagne is for the classy, not me Posted by Picasa

And Dad bought 5 wine glasses a few days ago... for alcohol drinking occasions.. like now...

the whole thing Posted by Picasa

Quite a spread eh?

fruits Posted by Picasa

And not forgetting the fruit of the day: melons! This particular melon was in the kitchen for a week, and had not ripened.... Thankfully the melon was sweet enough... but still a little hard...

And may the photo spamming begin!!!

mum and me Posted by Picasa

Just took this photo before eating... and Mum kept saying how the gold chain makes a good impression on my frame, and dark shirts. Dun really care man, and I don't really like jewellery...

chicken rice wars Posted by Picasa

My little brother got a little crazy with chicken rice and ate quite a lot...

pose minus sister Posted by Picasa

Poor sis... she took the photo and she's not in the picture... No chance to show her teeth... not!

mum and sis Posted by Picasa

me and bro Posted by Picasa

dad Posted by Picasa

A wonderful dinner, from the looks on everyone's faces... :-)

aftermath Posted by Picasa

And more proof that champagne is for the girls and ladies...

Alright... gonna talk about the presents some time later! I received a gift from my parents, my godmother and my grandma... hmm... more to come maybe??!!

Sending off

Watched the Fantastic 4 at the box office yesterday, and I must say that the movie is not bad... but not as good as batman begins. The Human Torch is good at joking, making the Thing the root of most of his jokes. Mr Fantastic always has that unexpected scientific twist in using words, and The Invisible Women... woo... sexy...

Nigel is going off very soon for his Jungle Confidence Course, and we had dinner at Billy Bombers. On the way, we met up with Chin Fee. We were walking at a speed so fast, she just passed us by and only got to notice me I think... I was spacing out then, then Chin Fee shouted my name, and caught me by surprise, as Weiliang and Wenyao was in front. At that time, I was thinking to myself, whether to stop for a bit, and chat since it's been while since we met, but the group's so far away, that I ended up waving and saying bye to her.

We also met someone else too... by that time I was already playing guessing games... because it's been a while, at least two years. I vaguely remembered the name started with an A...

Ahmad? No....

Amir? No way, he's the indian guy who got that accent...

Amin? Oh come on, he's the one who took over me at Logistics.

It's only after I browsed a bit on Melvin's site, that I found out his name is Aliff.

Hahah... oh man... long term memory loss?

Anyways, here we were at Billy Bombers, and suddenly, almost everyone are going overseas... including Rumei who is going overseas to study.

The discussions were very enlightening, with everyone revealing their experiences... What struck a chord with me was the part where Andre and Gen were talking about whiny... parents.

I've got no grudges against my parents... and I'm sure everyone's parents are different too. Yeah, my parents are whiny, saying about how I should be living on my own, and be able to do all kinds of stuff they are doing. And yet, at the same time, they still provide the kind of homely security that's a little annoying at times...

Now the approach is different when my siblings and I are told to do stuff more than once. Most of the time, we are caught up in doing some stuff, using the computer, playing games, watching TV and such...

I usually let the whining linger for about 5 minutes, which is about the same time my current task comes to a successful pause. Then I slowly do what is needed, and whine back at my parents on how and what to do... haha...

My younger brother responds the fastest most of the time, but does one heck of a bad job out of it... and eventually he gets whined all the more by my parents...

My sister gets the worst treatment... well, I can't blame her... Mother whines, she just says she knows already and continues on her activity. Five minutes later, Mum comes again, and she says the same thing. By the time she decides to do it, my mum would have done the stuff already, my dad would be roaring at her on how her procastination has pissed off my mum and him, and my brother and I would be ranting at her. Then she goes into a crazy fit, and goes off to work, or out of the house to somewhere....

Oh man... I think I got a little carried away here.... no offence guys and girls, bruddas and sistas...

Anyway, the meet-up got changed a bit, but it's always good: watch a movie in the afternoon, walk a bit, shop a bit, have dinner, get into some great discussions, walk a bit, shop a bit, and for some, go clubbing... So far, so good... not like the last time where we had movies late in the night, hang out at some expensive nighttime hawker centre, and fade away slowly... heh heh...

Alright... I'm gonna have my dinner soon, will post a blog about it...

Will blog later when I wake up

but to make a useless point...

Kira RULES! RAWRS! OWNZ! KICKS ASS! AND *insert god-like words*

Awesome Episode....

Update

okay, three posts ago, i wanted to continue blogging on what happened on saturday. But since that's like two saturdays ago, I really got kind of lazy to change thoughts into words... But to fufill my own obligation...

Two saturdays ago, I had loads of fun, great discussions with friends that I wished would last a little longer, and a lunch buffet at marriot cafe! because *drum roll*, it's Peter's Birthday! It's been a while since I strolled in the city, but being a country bumpkin (or heartlander, whichever suits best), I got a little lost... This time, I got on at bugis... hmm...

As for now... I'm seriously stoning away, and like gary (maybe), I kind of forgot how to do programming already... when was the last time I wrote printf("%s", "Hi I Suck0rs At Programming"); ?

Celebrations wise, I'm doing it on a low scale... family size! Mum thought of cooking some special dinner on sunday, and greedily, I listed to her what I think would be the perfect family dinner...

1) Beggar's Chicken
2) Stir-Fried Sprouts
3) Steamed Garoupa (sp. err.)
4) Hakka Yong Tau Foo
5) Canned Abalone / Pig's Stomach Soup (Well, actually Bak Kut Teh, but I got too greedy)
6) Six family members and a great family discussion

Power la! Food always perks my mood up~ lalalala....

And Gundam Seed Destiny.... why does Kira look like he's the main character again??!! That really suck0rs to the core! Come on, Director Fukada, give Athrun a chance!!! And Strike Freedom debuts next episode! Sweet!!!

Sin

Was listening to Haruka Kanata by ASIAN KUNGFU GENERATION (some low-note jap band that popped up)

It brings up memories... something insignificant to most people I know. Yet it deepens the truth that I've committed a sin, a long time ago.

A sin that seemed to be looked over by anyone nowadays.

But the guilt will still be there.

And it intensifies the guilt of my selfishness a while ago.

I think I won't be lying anymore down on my bed.

Pondering anymore will just burn my brains out.

Ashamed

I can't help it.

Even if I know about it, even if I tried to suppress it, I can't help it.

Is this why humans are not perfect?

It is but an excuse.

To be selfish when it comes to attention...

I'm ashamed of myself.

Give Up

I think I'll just not hold a party... After Financial Reality hits me smack on the face.

More to blog later...

21st B'day

Well well, my birthday is coming, and I have no real idea on what to do about it. And it's my 21st birthday! Great...

20 years have passed by, and I can't seriously think of what to have for my birthday.

Partee! Not. Can't even jump for joy. Maybe I'll just go for the durian feast, and ask out tons of people.

Presents? The last thoughtful present I got.... a Vertical Moonwalker. A thoughtful gift, seeing that my poly classmates bought it for me, when they saw me for one year, packing loads of stuff down my puny bag every day.

We just knew each other for one year at that time (and imagine the price!).
Despite the fact that they commented that the bag won't last a year, I can't help but thank them...

Hmm... this year I seem to have a desire for original CDs.. Their music is hard to find, and it doesn't hurt to support the music that they produce.

X Japan Best Collection! MUST GET!!! raWr.......

...
...
...
Ok, in all serious sense, my 21st birthday is coming, and I can't really think of what to do with it.

That's... bad...

Snippets

I bored... nothing much to blog... details are too boring, so guess what.... i'm writing snippets of my life.

Dreams III
------------
Another dream where I imagine myself in an high-speed automobile again. this time a motorcycle that can magically changed back to a terok bicycle.

One more where I can't move my legs (which gave me one hell of a scare) and people with very familiar faces (along the lines of Keanu Reeves and Jet Li) landing hits on my knee and quadriceps. Ouch.

Chilli Padi Belachan
-------------------
I thought they were normal chillies, given the size, but hell I was wrong. In the quest to satisfy my family's tastebuds (unanimous for super-spicy, despite 3 against out of 5), chilli padi belachan was made. Thankfully the food processor took care of all the the stuff.

All there's left was the chopping, and the cooking. The smell is like a flamethrower, spewing flames into my eyes and nose. Only when I took a tiny dab with my noodle, did I realise, it's really chili padi. My whole body was soaked wet.

Tendinitis
----------
Thought I might start working out for a bit, and tried doing some pushups. Ok... it's working a bit.

And some crunches. Ok, knee hurts a bit, but it's tolerable.

And the stationary bike. Ok not good. Used the other useful leg to carry out most of the cycling.

And before I know it, pain arrives. and lasted for two days. Now I'm limping quite bad, and I can't even do a leg raise. Physio decided it was Tendinitis, and asked me to refrain from all the shit I'm doing. and ice the joint on top of that.

Grr.... welcome back Couch Potato Zeng.
