O-Toro Here I Come

Most of my friends should be aware that I'm celebrating my belated birthday at some sushi restaurant, savouring the fabulous tuna belly sashimi, AKA o-toro.

Also AKA expensive.

Well, got 5 people going so far, but the rest isn't responding....

Hmmm can't wait to enjoy my otoro.... :-)

Riding my Bike is like riding on air...

That's right...

Welcome to part two of My Bike Remake Mk II.

Was cycling to the city when I realised that my left pedal is getting loose. The lack of brake pads are frustrating me too.

More over, the rear wheel still has the problem of misalignment.

So I cycled past Newton Circus along Dunearn Road, And kept looking left and right for a bicycle shop, and ended up at Little India. I had expected to see some bicycle shop after seeing so many parked bicycles.

Still, no shop to be found. I carried on, and found myself at Boon Keng.

All Motorcycle shops.

No bicycle shop.

Desperate, I called TX Yap (he lives there BTW) for help. Thank god there is a bicycle shop in the area.

So I spent 43 bucks more and got:

  1. my rear wheel hub, and spokes replaced
  2. replaced brake pads for my front and back wheels
  3. replaced bear bearings in my pedaling crankshaft,
  4. and tightened my left pedal as well.

And It comes with free greasing and advice as well!

Not too bad... I actually cycled from the city back to SIM in 1/2 hour. And it took 1/2 hour to cycle back home from there.

Riding my bike is really a floaty affair.... :-)

New Wheels, Advance Birthday Pressie

I got myself a compilation cd by X for my self-giving present around this month in 2005, so I was thinking, why not get a damn present for myself this year? And after finding out that my bike's rear axle is about to go out of commission, I dropped by a bicycle shop at Clementi to change it before going to SIM for studies.

And what do you know, I felt it's a good time to try road tires for a change... And TA DAH!There is my bike, with brand new wheels! one wheel for 26 dollars. then axle cost was 15 bucks. then an extra change of tube in the front tyre (because the old tube which is made in china is too fat ) costs 7. All in all, 74 buckeroos.

Oh yeah, the bike behind is Cheryl's. Okay...... was Cheryl's. Used by my brother, and when romantic things kick in (he's not single... shit!) he and his girlfriend take my bikes both for a ride.

Good thing about the tyres is that it now takes less effort to cycle. I can cycle at my maximium gear ratio easily. Which brings me to my wish list..... :-)

  1. A helmet
  2. Bling-bling so that cars can see me
  3. A better rear gear. (So can go FASTER!)
  4. A better front gear (The rails keep getting derailed now, but still, tolerable for the speed.)
  5. Pedals and matching boots ( the clicking-in-place ones!)
Funny... I think my life is more or less satisfied... I have no desire for a motorised vehicle... yet.
